Looking for a gig?

Below is a list of some of the venues and pubs in Canterbury that feature live music, bands and DJs – this is only the roughest version at the moment, as we’re still finding new venues, but we’ve included as much info as possible ...

Most of these have links or myspaces linked on our Gig & Event Guide  but we've included any emails/ phone numbers that aren't on that page yet...

The Beercart Arms has a regular music night on Thursdays. While they do cater to a rock crowd they've also had some varied styles of music recently...

Secret Cellar - they have a nice garden and are likely to do more intimate performances. Regular live acts every Saturday afternoon.

The Good Food Cafe (01227 456654) is a really cool venue / vegan cafe above Canterbury Wholefoods on Jewry Lane - they have had some Sunday afternoon gigs recently, and might be interested if you have something mellow / folky to offer. They have an open mic / jam on the first Sunday of every month.

The Cricketers have had sets or an open mic in the past, but I think it's a bit of a naff pub, so I never really go there myself!

Orange Street Music club have acoustic sessions (especially since someone complained about the noise at the venue), a regular open mic night and bands of all shapes and sizes, and are more than partial to a bit of jazz…

The Farmhouse is a new venue from the Lounge On The Farm team but so far it looks like they are just doing 'name' acts.

The Maiden's Head on the Wincheap Rd sometimes have bands but I don't know what their policy is...

The Foundry has both regular live music and DJs (01227 760053)

Alberry’s mostly has DJ nights. I played there myself a few years ago to an empty room so I can’t really say it’s a perfect venue…

I've also seen bands set up PAs and play in the Whitefriars Shopping Centre at the weekend but I don't yet know who says yay or nay to that

It might be worth looking through all the bands on our MySpace to see if any have gigs coming up and where they are. We are always looking for more!
