4th June 2009 @ Orange Street Music Club
Admission: free if you sign up
Canterbury Geek Nights offer a chance for 'geeks' (web developers designers, programmers, online marketers, Twitters, gamers etc.) in the local area to get together, share their skills and talk about new ideas, techniques and technologies. It will take place on the first thursday of each month at the Orange Street Music Club.
http://oxford.geeknights.net is where it all started (in Oxford.)
Basically, it is an informal, unstuffy, networking event (suits will not be encouraged) in a chilled out venue that will be free to attend for anyone that registers. The evenings will feature a couple of short snappy keynote speeches about topical stuff. The rest of the evening is generally networking, sharing ideas and technologies and socializing. We are hoping to attract a diverse range of people from different fields so as to make the events more dynamic and interesting.
Please sign up at the website if you want to attend for free. By signing up you will also be able to enjoy subsidized (cheap) drinks on the night. (The sign up form is about half way down the page on the right.)
The first event will be very laid back. It won't matter what you wear. You won't have to contribute. Just come along and check it out. CGN is about creating a community of like minded people that are interested in using technology and the web in their lives.
If you want to ask any questions about this new event, or if you want to get involved in any way please send an email to simon@canterburygeeks.net.
